about

I build things that hold up at production scale

I'm a software engineer at Kalvad in Dubai, where I've worked since October 2021 on data platforms for government clients — the kind where a slow dashboard is somebody's actual afternoon.

Outside that I ship my own products. Harakti is a bilingual gym tracker on Google Play and the web, built solo end to end. It's where I get to make the architectural calls and then live with them.

Data that stays fast

Dual-database architectures on PostgreSQL and TimescaleDB — hypertables, continuous aggregates, compression — so time-series queries stay flat as the table grows.

End-to-end ownership

Schema design through to the interface. Django and Django Ninja on the back, React and TypeScript on the front, and the async pipelines wiring them together.

Built for two directions

Arabic as a first-class target rather than a locale file — full right-to-left layout reaching into charts, calendars and every asymmetric value in the codebase.

Where I've worked

Kalvad

Software Engineer

Period
October 2021 – Present
Location

  1. Architected dual-database infrastructure using PostgreSQL and TimescaleDB hypertables with continuous aggregates and compression, improving time-series query performance for millions of records.

  2. Engineered robust async pipelines with Celery and RabbitMQ — 15+ scheduled jobs for data sync, ML model training, and large-scale exports of 1M+ rows.

  3. Built high-performance REST APIs with Django Ninja, JWT auth, and role-based access control, serving 20+ real-time dashboards.

  4. Implemented enterprise-grade authentication: 2FA, UAEPass, LDAP/Active Directory, API key management, and field-level audit logs.

  5. Optimised database and app performance via indexing, N+1 elimination, and streaming large exports through MinIO.

  6. Developed 20+ dynamic dashboards using React, Zustand, React Query, and Hey API with automatic schema generation.
